As the title implies, this composition is written in two sections. A Minuet is a French dance introduced at the court of Louis XIV about 1650. The King himself danced the first Minuet composed by Lully in 1653. A Galliard is a lively triple meter dance from the 15th century characterized by angular skips and leaps. The orchestration of this grade 2+ original gives the musicians a chance to play melodies, duets, trios, and tutti sections. |
